What does privacy look like when it becomes something people can actually use?

Join zERC20 and Swarm Foundation for an informal afternoon around privacy, decentralized infrastructure, and the people building both.

We’re bringing together builders, researchers, founders and privacy-minded people in Tokyo to celebrate the launch of zERC20 V2, meet like-minded people, and create space for useful conversations that can turn into actual collaborations.

zERC20 is building private ERC-20 transfers designed to work with the wallets and tokens people already use, while Swarm is building decentralized storage and communication infrastructure for a more resilient internet.

Throughout the afternoon, both teams will host informal Privacy Office Hours. If you’re working on something relevant, have an integration in mind, want to explore a proposal, need technical input, or simply want to understand where the two ecosystems could intersect, come and speak directly with the people building them.

It’s a space to exchange ideas, find potential collaborators, talk through real use cases, and meet others thinking seriously about privacy and decentralized infrastructure on Ethereum.

We’ll also have specialty coffee and matcha, time to stay for a while, and a chance to celebrate zERC20 V2 entering the wild.

Herculis Gold Coin (XAUH) is coming to Asia – all the way from the Swiss Alps to the streets of Tokyo. Switzerland has long been ground zero for blockchain innovation, and XAUH is bringing that spirit east for a night built purely around community.

​We're bringing together holders, builders, and crypto-curious people in Tokyo to mark XAUH's arrival in Japan, meet the team behind the project in person, and create space for real conversation rather than a pitch.

​Throughout the evening, the XAUH team will be around to talk through the project, take questions, and hear directly from the Tokyo community about what you'd like to see next – whether that's a technical question, a partnership idea, or just curiosity.

ETHGlobal Pragma is a one-day summit bringing together builders, founders, researchers, and industry leaders shaping the future of Ethereum and web3. This is a meetup, with a short intro talk and guided discussion on the topic of network sovereignty.

The decentralized web has built extraordinary infrastructure for distributed coordination. But coordination is not governance - and the question of how networked communities actually govern themselves is both urgent and unresolved. What holds a distributed community together over time? How are shared resources stewarded, disputes resolved, participants kept accountable?

Networked sovereignty is emerging as a genuine new layer of political organization, and the governance patterns we normalize now will shape what kinds of polities become possible for decades. The Network State is currently the dominant blueprint, but it is only one answer. The design space is wider than any single model, and if it closes prematurely, we risk locking in a narrow version of what networked sovereignty can become.

This talk introduces Network Nations as a framework for democratic, commons-grounded governance among translocal communities. It presents three core mechanisms — functional sovereignty, commons governance, and entanglement — as institutional scaffolding for communities to self-govern across distance. The ETH Tokyo community has essential design knowledge to contribute: decentralization, peer-to-peer infrastructure, ecological responsibility, open protocols, and public goods stewardship. As a session, it is well placed to engage the broader design space and develop concrete alternatives to startup-led models of networked sovereignty.

A week of day raves, onsen trips, yoga and meditation sessions, and intimate chill time at the ZuCity mountain retreat, 3 hours away from the Tokyo metropolis. Come decompress with a curated high-signal, high-vibe group in the center of our own crypto city.

Hackatsuon (a blend of hackathon and katsuo, the bonito that Kesennuma is known for) is a residency and hackathon co-hosted with Kesennuma City, welcoming builders from Japan and abroad.

Kesennuma is a fishing town in the Tohoku region of northeastern Japan, with over $100M in annual catch. Rebuilt after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, it now faces the same challenges as much of rural Japan — an aging population, depopulation, and a fragile local economy. Cutting-edge technology tends to reach large cities and corporations, but rarely the local governments and communities working on these social challenges. Hackatsuon exists to change that: not a one-off race for prizes, but an invitation to step into a real place, get to know its community, and co-create with the people who live there.

The 2026 residency runs from September 28 to October 11, in Kesennuma.

Three ways to join:

1\. Two-week residency — Sep 28 – Oct 11, 2026 Live in Kesennuma for the full two weeks. After check-in and orientation (Sep 28), residents dive into community input and fieldwork with city staff (Sep 30 – Oct 1), then form teams and build (from Oct 2), sharing progress at a midpoint review (Oct 4) before final presentations. This is the deepest way to experience Hackatsuon — getting to know the town and its people, and building projects rooted in real local challenges alongside developers from Japan and around the world.

2\. Weekend participation (hackathon) — from Oct 2, 2026 Can't stay for the full two weeks? Join for the hackathon itself, which kicks off on Oct 2 with team formation and development, and continues through the midpoint review on Oct 4. A shorter but hands-on way to team up, build, and be part of the core creative sprint.

3\. Public showcase (Demo Day & reception) — Oct 10, 2026 @ Pier 7 Open to everyone. Come see what the builders have created at the final presentations, and join the reception to celebrate with the community at Pier 7. No coding required — just curiosity and a willingness to connect.
